Want to contribute to the better side of humanity? You already are! Every time you hold a door open for someone, help someone pick up stuff they dropped, or smile at someone who looks a little down. Keep it up. It's those little things that make the biggest difference, in the big picture and the long run. If you want, you can contribute more. How? Volunteer. You don't have to make a lot of money to spend time volunteering. You don't have to have loads of time with nothing to do in order to volunteer. Just think what would happen if you spent time mentoring an at-risk youth instead of watching TV. TV is fun, and it's ok to watch your shows, but do you really watch TV to see your shows most of the time? You don't even have to volunteer with any big organization. Volunteer at your children's school. Volunteer with your churches youth group. Volunteer some time once a month helping with Habitat for Humanity. Volunteer time teaching children about your skills or job, at places like Boy Scouts/Girl Scouts, the Boys and Girls Club, or even Big Brothers/Big Sisters. An hour a week could make a big difference in a child's life.
